Châteauneuf du Pape

Châteauneuf du Pape: intense aroma

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is located on the left bank of the Rhone between Avignon and Orange. Renowned for its white as much as for its red wines, the vineyard extends on 3000 hectares of land and produces around 100 000 hectoliters of wine each year. Several reasons have contributed to make this appellation popular. Notably the fact that it is allowed to use up to 13 white and red grape varieties. This very rich blend in the same bottle is not a coincidence but a search for the perfect balance. Another peculiarity of this region is the phenomenon that this region has what is known as the "oven effect", because of its stony soils that retain the heat of the sun and accelerate the maturity of the grapes. This phenomenon makes it possible to produce concentrated, rich and very aromatic wines.

Châtauneuf-du-Pape wines are very famous thanks to big houses such as: Château de Beaucastel, Henri Bonneau domain, Chapoutier domain, Clos des Papes domains, Château Rayas ... Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation can age from 5 to 20 years for red wines and 1 to 10 years for white wines. The red wines have an intense color. They are strong to the nose and offer spicy and fruity flavors to the mouth. For the young white wines, they have a delicate floral odor often accompanied by fruity notes and as they age they release nuances of honey.
