The Rhone Valley is a region of extreme contrasts. The North, with its cold climate, discretion and nobility beautifully expressed by the different shades of the only red grape variety that grows there (Syrah). The South, with its warm climate, its exuberance, its warm characher and its plenty varieties of grape variety (Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Vaccarèse and many others). The vineyards of the « Rhône Septentrional » (North), follow the river, starting from Vienne, south of Valencia. On the right size come first those of Côte Rôtie, Condrieu then, Château Grillet, Saint-Joseph, Cornas and Saint-Péray, while on the right size of the river, stretch those of the Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage. About 100km separating the « Rhône Méridional »’s AOC (South), Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Lirac and Tavel located in north of Avignon.
