Rayas: a symbol of the Rhône Valley
Like all the great vineyards in France, the Rhône Valley has many symbols. The Rayas domain is one of them. Located in the very popular commune of Châteauneuf-du-Pape ( which is a terroir and a city) this 10 hectares domain consist of a shady valley, which its famous for its red wine production only made from black grenache ( the only hectare dedicated to the production of white, you have the varietals Grenache and Clairette). Highly sought after, a bottle of Chateau Rayas can be very difficult to find, given its scarce production (10 000 bottles per year) which the Rayas domain can produce.
The most important feature of a bottle of Château Rayas, is it’s aging potential and its palette of flavors. Thus, while we are listing its many appellations, new flavors are being added. The white wine Chateau Fonsalette has a touch of spices and curry; while its red counterpart has more of a wild berries flavor. Whatever your choice, all of the Chateau Rayas wines have an intense flavor mixed with great sweetness.
