Château Angélus

Château Angélus

Among the most famous places in Saint-Emilion, we can mention the domain Angélus, classified "Premier Grand Cru" in 1996. Stablished in over 39 hectares of land, the name of this place comes from the steeples where the wine growers used to ring the angelus bell. This is what has made this Bordeaux wine internationally recognized. Its production, which takes place in a natural amphitheater, is made of half merlot, and 47% cabernet franc. A small parcel is finally dedicated to the production of cabernet-sauvignon. The period of maturation oscillates from 18 to 22 months in new barrels. In addition, this domain has been one of the first to experiment with precociously putting the wine into barrels in Bordeaux.
The result is there, the only thing left to say about Angélus wines is that they are perfect. If we could only mention one Angelus vintage, we could particularly mention that of 2000, which is simply anthological. But there are other vintages that have stand out as well such as: that of 2005 and 2009, which were exceptional. In general, they are mostly wines to cellar, for the most impatient ones, we advise you to try a "Carillon d'Angélus". The latter is done to consume immediately.
